ASU Health Science Professions Visit

Posted Date: 02/24/26 (11:49 AM)

ICHS students in Mrs. Scwertner's Exercise & Wellness Program of Study had an amazing visit to the Angelo State University's Health Science Professions Department last Thursday. We are very grateful to the Master's of Athletic Training (MAT) Program who organized our visit and rolled out the red carpet for our students! Students toured the Health and Human Services building including the Anatomy & Physiology Lab, Physical Therapy Lab, and Nursing Simulation Labs that include state of art learning tools. Most impressive were the Simulation Labs that are used for hands-on, interactive learning for patient care using a variety of mannequins. Some of the mannequins are interactive, respond to stimuli and answer questions. Others are AI and can have in-depth conversations. The simulation labs are used to record students during simulated nursing exercises, then instructors review the recording with the student to improve their skills in a low-risk setting. ASU is very proud of their unique facility that is one of the best in the nation! ICHS students also loved the digital anatomy table. Later, the ASU Athletic Trainers toured ICHS students through the training room at the Junell Center and provided hands-on exploration of the various therapies they provide to student athletes. Overall, it was an excellent day of learning and making connections to college and career opportunities in Health Science Professions! Huge thanks to our friends at ASU! Pictures and video of visit attached.
